Before the missionaries come to Umuofia, the clansmen believed that they did not posses toes. They believed that because they did not have the same color skin or have the same values that there was no way they could be the same in any other way. Although the white men did not think that the Umuofians didn't have toes, they also had conflicting thoughts about their culture and life. Both sides were very ignorant in the fact that they did not take the time to get to know about one another before making quick judgements.
